Board of Directors Meeting | Debate!
This Saturday, the Lansing Jaycees will go head-to-head against the Redford Jaycees in a good old fashioned debate. (Psst ... you'll also be able to see Joe Kelly sport his Relay challenge payoff beard!)
Come to watch or participate in a friendly debate. The topic for debate is "Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its transportation infrastructure investment in the United States." We will flip a coin to determine sides for the debate. Each debate is expected to last roughly 1 hour and will be adjudicated by an experienced three-judge panel.
The event will be held on the third floor of the Capital Area District Library's downtown location this Saturday. See the calendar to the left for more details. Want to have your dues sponsored for a year?
Membership Vice President Danielle Wellington has announced a Membership Challenge with some pretty exciting payoffs!
Between now and the August General Membership Meeting (GMM), the Lansing Jaycee to recruit the most members (minmum of three recruits) will have their membership dues sponsored for one year. That's a $65 value! For each real prospect (an individual who signs up on the Chapter’s prospect list) you bring out to a qualifying event, your name will be entered into a drawing for a $25 gift card. So, for each prospect you bring out, you improve your odds of winning. Lastly, but not least, the individual who brings out the most prospects will get to throw a pie in the face of Danielle, President Lauren Leeds, or any other willing member of the Lansing Jaycees Board of Directors. The upcoming qualifying events are:
So, introduce the Lansing Jaycees to people in your life who think could benefit from being a member, or could benefit the Chapter through having them as a member. Texas Hold 'em
Next month the Lansing Jaycees will be conducting Texas Hold 'em shifts at Tripper's in Frandor on July 23, 24 and 25 to help raise money for the chapter.
Shifts are as follows: 11:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; 4:30 to 9:30 p.m.; and 9:30 p.m. to 2:15 a.m. If you can lend a hand by taking a shift, you can sign up here: VolunteerSpot Sign-up. The money we raise in fundraising events such as Texas Hold `em is put to good use to help run projects we run throughout the year, including: the annual Easter Egg Hunt on the Capitol lawn; the chapter's softball team; our sponsorship of Poetry in the City; and so on. Please help out if you can! |
