Pet Photos with the Easter Bunny

Lauren Leeds and Jill Blust

Last year the Lansing Jaycees launched a new project called "Pet Photos with the Easter Bunny." The popular event was so successful that we're proud to bring you the second annual Pet Photos with the Easter Bunny event this coming weekend.

For $5, donors can have their pets or child's photo taken with the Easter Bunny on both Saturday, March 24 and Sunday, March 25 from noon to 5 p.m. each day at Preuss Pets in Old Town.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Animal Placement Bureau, a nonprofit volunteer organization that helps place animals in loving homes. Our goal for this event is to raise $1,000 for this worthy organization.

APB is a volunteer foster care network. They have no sheltering facility and all of the dogs in their care live with the volunteers until they can find a loving home. APB depends on private donations and fundraisers as their sole source of funding and their major expenses result from essential medical care for the dogs. For more information about APB, please visit their website at www.apbpets.com.

This event was a spectacular amount of fun last year, we hope you can make it out this weekend to support the Lansing Jaycees and APB and see all the adorable animals.

Urbandale Farm's Spring Work Party
04/21/2012
Celebrate Earth Day by joining us for a fun afternoon of work at Lansing's first urban farm! Any time you can spare is welcome. Official date is Saturday, April 21. Rain date is Sunday, April 22. Groundhog-proofing the farm is our first priority this spring! Our earliest seedlings get transplanted out in April, and we need to protect them from our neighborhood groundhogs who ate broccoli, beans, and lettuces last year by the row (and didn't share any of it with us). We will reinforce the bases of our fences around the farm by stapling or zip-tying chicken wire in places where the groundhogs enter. Bring work gloves and wear boots that can get muddy. We'll have extra gloves and tools on hand, but these items could come in handy if you have them: shovels, pruners, loppers, and any old chicken wire that you don't need. For more information on the Lansing Urbandale Farm, visit: http://lansingurbanfarmproject.wordpress.com/
